I realized I never posted pictures when we got our new carpet in

This is how the carpet looked when we moved in.
This is the tile that was underneath the carpet when they pulled it up:
We still have the old carpet in the two bedrooms, so this is a comparison between the old carpet and the new carpet.
And this is the new carpet.

We're thrilled with the end result. It looks really really nice and we are absolutely loving it.

"B" is for Blogging

I was staring at my latest blog entry, throwing out random ideas with hubby, trying to figure out something that starts with the letter B. When it came to me....Blogging!!! So, here's some screenshots of what it looks like when I'm working on my blog.

Bonus Tuesday Blog: Voting is Cool!!

Yep- I voted in our primary. :) It is an amazing priveledge and responsibility - and I'm proud to be able to take part. We did have one little mishap - I'm registered Republican and hubby is registered No Party. Hubby checked in to get his ballot right before me and the very nice woman who was in charge of handing out the ballots gave me a No Party ballot, too. Oops!

(On the off chance that anyone reading this is not familiar with the American system of voting: in the primaries, you can only vote for a person if you are registered in the party they are trying to get the nomination for. So, registered Democrats can only vote on people trying to get the Democrat nomination, Republicans can only vote for people trying to get the Republican nomination, and if you are registered No Party you don't vote for anybody. In the actual election, you can vote for whomever you wish.)

After I bubbled in the ballot (it was for an ammendment in our state), I realized that there weren't any Republican candidates listed...or any candidates for that matter. I checked back with the super nice volunteers and we quickly figured out that they had assumed I was No Party like hubby. The first ballot was destroyed, I made my pick on a new ballot, and all was once again right with the world...I'm pretty sure there was whistling and sunlight involved there somewhere. :)

The most beautiful kitten in the world...and I'm not biased at all!!

Am I right or am I right? :-)

One of my All time favorite meals...

This is one of my all-time favorite meals from one of my all-time favorite places. :) It is at Le Cellier, which is the restaurant in the Canada section of Epcot. They have some of the best steaks I've ever had in my entire life!

This was my dinner - A New York Strip Steak with balsamic red onions, watercress and roasted Yukon potatoes and finished with veal demi-glace.

And THIS was dessert. A chocolate-on-chocolate whiskey cake. (For the record, I'm pretty sure the whiskey is in the cream sauce on the right...which I don't really like. Now the chocolate cake by itself.....NOW we're talkin!!)

She waits

This was taken at Olustee last year. It didn't turn out exactly as I hoped it would, but it's still pretty.

Sky Watch Friday

Subtitled: Mooning About

(just because I read that phrase somewhere and it seemed to fit the picture to me).

Actually, this was taken on a very happy night - the night 2 of our friends were married. Which also happened to be my birthday last year. :)

One-on-One

This is a falcon from the Medieval Fair that has been blog fodder for me for the last few days. There was a demonstration of this beautiful bird as well as a few other types of birds.

Baking Bread

I baked White Mountain bread today. :) So, today's blog features pictures from the different stages involved in baking it.

This is the "Warm Liquid Goo Phase" (10 points to anyone who can name that movie). :)
It is the warm milk, water, honey, butter, salt, etc... right after I added in the activated yeast.

The flour has been added in and the dough has been kneaded (by hand, of course!) I don't have a bread maker or stand mixer, so it sort of had to be by hand, but that's ok. It was really fun!

Settling the dough in for the first rise:

Divided in half and rising for the 2nd time:

After about a half an hour in the oven, it's all done!!

Mischa at Play

We tried to play a game on our Wii last night for the first time since bringing Mischa home. It turned out that the game was pretty lousy, but Mischa was super entertaining. :) She tried to get at the curser on the tv screen. We played with her like that for about 30 minutes. Way better than the doofy game.

At one point, she noticed that the cursor was disappearing at the side of the screen, so she jumped up beside the tv to try to figure out where it was going!

This one is Mischa playing in front of a mirror (technically, I think she was taking a break to take a bath). This one has the added bonus of showing our new carpet. :)

Today, we've been married for exactly 4 1/2 years

Exactly 4 1/2 years ago today, Hubby and I were married. :)

Exactly 5 1/2 years ago today, he proposed. I thought it was romantic....he joked that it was so he'd have less dates to remember. :-)

In honor of those special days, I'd like to dedicate today's blog to my hubby, whom I love very very much.

Anywho... he took a disposable camera with us that he slipped to our waitress after we finished eating. He had my anniversary present in a little red bag (you can see it in some of the shots) and he left it on the table for me to stare at for our entire meal. lol!

He slipped out for a minute when we were almost finished (and took the camera with him - I found out later that that was when he palmed it to the waitress). Finally, we were done eating and he asked if I wanted my present yet. Then, he got down on one knee and proposed (turned out that my present was my engagement ring that we'd designed together a few months before). The waitress set herself up off to the side, and with that little disposable camera, she took these pictures:

Rocky Goes to the Zoo

Today's blog is inspired by Hubby's ABC Wednesday post yesterday. For those who don't know (or haven't had a chane to see his blog), we took a small stuffed penguin named Rocky to the zoo and took his picture with all kinds of different things. There was a fun series on a website where people would take little stuffed animals to different places and take their pictures with stuff. Since we have a legion of penguins, we picked one out and joined in the fun. :)

Here's a few highlights of Rocky Goes to the Zoo.
